Innovative Management Solutions of New York (IMSNY), a management service organization formed by Coordinated Behavioral Care IPA (CBC) and Coordinated Behavioral Health Services IPA (CBHS), has named Mathew Smith, LMSW, MBA as Chief Operating Officer (COO).
Mr. Smith, a licensed social worker with an MBA from Columbia University, comes to IMSNY with significant experience working in and leading community-based not for profit organizations in New York, with a focus on behavioral health, child welfare, and intellectual/developmental disabilities. Over the past twenty years, Mr. Smith has developed and managed a variety of effective programs, including the build of short-term OMH residential program for youth transitioning to the community, the integration of OMH mental health and OASAS substance use disorder clinics, and the roll-out of a 25,000 member I/DD health home. Most recently, Mr. Smith has supported large systems in identifying opportunities for streamlining programs and restructuring delivery models as well as assisting IMSNY in the development of novel lines of business.
Mathew Smith has been steeped in the New York health and human services sector, starting off at Heartshare St. Vincent’s Services in a variety of roles and then moving on to Coordinated Behavioral Care and then Advance Care Alliance (ACA/NY)—a NYS start-Up Care Coordination Organizations (CCO) providing community-based services and support to people with Intellectual and/or Developmental Disabilities (I/DD) throughout NYC, Long Island and the Lower Hudson Valley.
“The foundation and joint venture of two of New York State’s largest and most developed Behavioral IPAs, CBC and CBHS, and their accomplishments to date in building networks of influential and high performing organizations sets the stage for exciting advances in the years to come,” stated Mr. Smith. “I could not be more thrilled to have the opportunity to offer value to the effort around improving behavioral health outcomes.”
“We are very excited about bringing Mathew Smith onboard, given his background and knowledge with both on-the-ground service delivery and the high level system perspective make him the ideal fit to take IMSNY and its service offerings to market,” said Jorge R. Petit, MD, President and CEO of CBC.
