Maggie Mortali officially begins her role as CEO on Monday, April 21, succeeding Matt Kudish, who has served NAMI-NYC for seven years. Maggie joins NAMI-NYC after holding senior leadership roles at the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP), the nation’s leading suicide prevention nonprofit, where she led a new department focused on programs and workplace initiatives. She has worked closely with employers across industries to build effective suicide prevention strategies and expand access to mental health services for employees. A thought leader in using digital technologies to reach underserved communities, Maggie has published widely and is a sought-after speaker on topics including workplace wellness, program evaluation, and equity in mental health care.
“NAMI-NYC is life-changing for families and individuals impacted by mental illness, and it’s a privilege to lead this organization,” said Maggie Mortali. “I look forward to getting to know our staff, Board, community members, and continue to grow our reach. We want to create a City where New Yorkers and beyond have access to the mental health care they need.”
“We are thrilled to welcome Maggie Mortali to NAMI-NYC,” said Stacy Helfstein, Board Chair. “Her deep expertise in suicide prevention and public health, along with her passion for workplace mental health, make her the ideal leader to guide NAMI-NYC forward. I’m excited for what’s ahead under her leadership.”
